Summer is over — for me at least — and so I’m back. It’s been a somewhat chaotic, albeit adventurous, summer, and now it’s back to getting into my former routine, morning coffee, at home, and a little bit of writing . . .
Summer Break
It has a been a roller coaster of a 2023, so far — moving to a new country, starting a new life, has been quite the experience.
This summer, as part of my work duties and privileges, I will be traveling to conferences and workshops–both as a participant and presenter. As a result of such a hectic time ahead, I am going to announce now that I am stepping away from here, for the summer.
So, until fall, until our next cup my friends . . . ☕☕

Brazil! 🇧🇷
In February 2023, I moved to Brazil! 🇧🇷
I have been on a one month journey–so far–finding, ordering, tasting, Brazilian coffee; I have quickly fallen in love though I am still exploring and learning all about Brazil, and Brazilian coffee.
Although I am still learning, and still figuring out recommendations, I thought: Why not give a preview/introduction now?
So, here’s a coffee gallery of my first couple of months in Brazil 🤩:

Valentine’s Day
All the love today — 🤎☕
🤎 Happy Valentine’s Day y’all 🤎

Happy New Year!
For many of us, the new (Gregorian) calendar year means a fresh start; I can’t think of a better way for that fresh start to begin with . . . than a warm cup of coffee ☕
Whether it was another day, the start of a new year, or the start of a new week for you — I hope it began with your favorite coffee, and I wish you many more to come 🤗

Happy Holidays!
Whether it’s simply winter break for you, a much-deserved break, that you’re celebrating, or Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Years, Christmas, Winter Solstice . . . Happy Holidays; have fun, and savor the coffee!

The Local Coffee Shop
There has been a considerable gap since I last recommended a local coffee shop–considerable gap!
2020: well, 2020 sort of put a stop to going to coffee shops, for obvious reasons.
2021: I had to mourn the closure of some of my favorite shops–places and spaces that had long been loved, or were promising new hubs. The pandemic was a seismic force on the success, availability, and possibility of so many small businesses . . .
2022: Now, in 2022, I have been doing my best to rediscover places–places that had makeovers and adapted to the seismic shifts of our entire society. I have also been exploring new places–places filled with hopes and dreams; places and people taking monumental risks in this economy–admirable risks, risks we should all encourage and support.
Local business is how families and communities thrive . . . and soon enough, I will be sharing some of these amazing places serving, supporting, and sustaining so many families and communities 🖤☕

Oops!!

I had all these plans for writing — and here I am after nearly two months when those plans were ready and drawn out. What happened? I entered a busy time that I knew was coming but even with solid plans and great aspirations, I didn’t get a chance to do it all. And so, writing took a back seat.
It happens, but lining things up–and for the holidays, for the whatever leisure time available to me in this busy holiday time, I will be here, I promise! 🤗
Back-to-School – 2022
I took a sort of summer break, and then got sick . . . but all better now!
Now, I’m not teaching this year, not on a traditional calendar or in a school like previous years, but I still follow that school calendar. Old habits, what can I say?
So with that back-to-school feeling and vibe all around me, allow me to offer a special shout out to all the teachers and school staff, and students, returning to school this year. And to all the school staff–treat yourself to a little extra coffee, the first weeks always need it! 😜

Welcome Back —
I went on winter break in 2020, and didn’t come back! 😲
After a couple of months, I just stepped away from it all. I clearly needed a break. I didn’t think anything of it, and then I realized it had been six months, and six months in I decided I needed a whole year.
And now I’m back. After an eventful year–switching jobs, moving, traveling, returning home, I am ready to settle back into a groove . . . I can’t wait to share all that has happened, all that I learned, all the coffee I drank! Cheers!
